Greetings sports fanatics! Today was the Quakertown Blazers home opener against the South Jersey Kings. The Kings struck first in the top of the 2nd inning thanks to an RBI fielders choice from Marylands Stephen Thomas. The Blazers would take the lead in the bottom of the 2nd with a RBI single from Alvernia s Lucas Floyd and RBI single from Chestnut Hills RJ Huth. The Blazers would add another run thanks to a HR by Delaware’s Owen Petrich. The Kings would cut the deficit to 4-2 when Rowans Ryan Murphy grounded out to second to score Chase Conklin from Richmond. After Cole Hertzler from Liberty drew a 2 out walk, Petrich hit another HR over the left field wall to extend the Blazers lead to 6-2. Casey Caufield from Monmouth capped the scoring in the bottom of the 8th with an RBI single to drive in Eric Shandler of UMBC. Blaise SclafanI of Penn State struck out Rutgers Trevor Cohen to close out a 7-2 Blazers victory! Petrich stated after the game that the 2 HR game was a great way to bounce back after going 0-3 in the Blazers first game.
