Stateliners win region title on Moreira’s record tying field goal

Greetings sports fanatics! Today the Phillipsburg Stateliners hosted the Northern Highlands Highlanders in the Section 2 Region 4 final. It was a lackluster 1st half as Pburg led 3-0 at the half. Jett Genovese would give the offense a much needed boost with a 25 yard TD run on 4th and 2 to extend Pburg's lead to 10-0. However, the Highlanders would score the next 11 points on a field goal, a TD and a two point conversion in the 4th to go ahead with 24 seconds left. With the season on the line, Genovese drove the Liners to the Highlanders 33 yard line to set up one last field goal attempt. Alexi Moreira would nail the 46 yarder to not only tie the school record for longest field goal, but gave the Stateliners the region title in dramatic fashion!! Moreira stated the Liners never gave up despite blowing a 10 point lead!
